What each resale platform actually leaves you
Two of these charge the seller nothing and bill the buyer instead — so the fee you pay and the price your buyer sees are two different questions. Enter one item and see both sides.
1 in the box means the Depop listing is boosted; 0 means it is not. Rates are each platform's published figures, checked November 2026, US seller, no store subscription, no promotions unless you set one. Fee structures differ by country — check the platform's own page for yours.
The fee lines, as published
| Platform | Seller fee | Charged on | Buyer pays extra |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vinted | None | — | Vinted fee, usually 5% + $0.70 (US); 3–8% + £0.30–£0.80 in the UK |
| Depop (US) | None, plus payment processing about 3.3% + $0.45 | Item, shipping and tax | Marketplace fee, up to 5% + up to $1 |
| Mercari | 10% | Item price plus buyer-paid shipping | Buyer protection, 3.6% of item plus buyer-paid shipping |
| Poshmark | $2.95 flat under $15; 20% at $15 and above | Sale price only | Nothing published beyond shipping and sales tax |
| Facebook Marketplace (shipped) | 10%, minimum $0.80 | Whole transaction, including shipping and tax | Nothing published |
Four things worth knowing
- Poshmark is expensive at both ends. The flat $2.95 punishes a $10 sale, and 20% punishes a $200 sale. It is never the cheapest line in the table, and it is the only one here that charges no payment processing on top.
- Mercari's base includes shipping. A heavy coat with a big label costs you more in fees than the item price suggests, because the 10% applies to what the buyer paid for postage too.
- Boosting is a cliff on Depop. A boosted sale costs 12% more than an unboosted one on the same price — on a $40 sale that is the difference between about $1.77 and $6.57 in seller cost.
- Free for the seller is not free for the sale. Where the platform bills the buyer, your listing competes at a higher checkout total than your asking price, and that is what decides whether it sells.
Knowing the fee is step one; knowing which of your products is quietly losing money is the part that changes the month. Or run one export free, no signup.
Selling on several of these at once? Upload the exports together and the report ranks every item across all of them.
Etsy, Amazon, Walmart and TikTok change their fee tables without announcing it, and the Canadian tax deadlines move. I check and send one short email when something real changes. No sequence, no selling you something every Tuesday.
